Watch out for Mother Nature!!!

soooo… Deer?¬† Cute or Dangerous? lol… that’s easy … sooo cute…. I mean… we have all seen Bambi…. Disney loves to bring us cute kids, dead parents, and life lessons… Deer are even a little majestic…

deer3

But on my street, Deer can also mean Dangerous… lol… like when they decide to jay-walk in the middle of the night… or your are out to get the mail and momma Deer starts barking (yep… barking… it is a horrible sound… like someone with bronchitis)… keep your distance, and they are cuties…

but the other night I drove down to Wendy’s, used a back road, and out of nowhere about nine Deer decided to sprint across the road… the last one to cross almost brushed the front of my car, it was so close… sooooo, yeah…. the Deer around here are soooo not afraid of people… in fact, they will probably start asking us for rent soon…

deer2

and then there was the one that freaked mom out… she had gone out to smoke on the porch, and momma Deer didn’t like how close the ‘human’ was to her little one… annnnnddddd, cue the barking… lol… after that, mom started carrying a taser out to smoke… but she still loves to look at them, so staying inside isn’t an option…

and then there are the Turkey population… it is wild flippin kingdom around here, I swear… I should start writing shifter novels, and sale them as true stories… lol… but anywho… turkeys

turkey

awwwww…. look, they are such great moms… bah… when you live next to a bird sanctuary, great mom means breeder….

it isn’t that I begrudge them a little bird-lovin…. and they are kind of cute (at least from the neck down)

turkey2

sadly, they were born with a face that only a mother could love… lol… in fact, I don’t think I should publically explain what that hanging, flopping neck reminds me of… lol… but still… not that Dangerous…

or are they…. (cue the horror movie music)

turkey1

When you are driving down the road and spot a procession of Turkey, you know they have organized and are prepared to do some damage…

or in my case, you see a line of about 13 Turkeys head for the road, and think “man, I hope I get past them before the suicidal things dash into the road”… lol… okay, so that may be a little over the top thinking-wise, but when the animals decide that it is okay to interact with the human (or at least, they act like you are only living there on their sufferance) … well that is a different matter…

but if swear, if I ever catch the Deer and the Turkeys chatting it up (making war plans), I will sooooo be out of here… lol… so I guess my answer to my own question would be that yep, they are cute, but cute is usually dangerous… ūüėõ

happy wordage, Tracey

What’s a Walk-About

anyone remember this guy???

bc6853e7b0618f2d7ac98064612c6895

lord-amercy… I loved the movie Crocodile Dundee… made my mother rent the VHS (yep, I’m that old… lol) every time we decided to rent videos… I always wanted to rewatch my favorites… as a child, everyone thought it was odd… as an adult, okay, they still think I’m odd… lol… but the jokes on them, I can save a crap load of money by rewatching the hoarder’s nest of¬†movies and TV series I have stocked up over thirty odd years… muhahahaha… ūüėõ

anywho…¬†I totally just got off track…

in the movie, Paul Hogan¬†talks about going walk-about… I loved the idea…¬†granted, now that I’m older (and have a license) I prefer a Drive-About… basically, I pack mom up (this time the dogs came) and hit the road…¬†check out the signs as you go, hit the welcome¬†center when you pass into a new state, and maybe have¬†one or¬†two ideas before you leave (but that last one isn’t necessary…)

this time around, we went to Helen, GA (very cool place) … they are a small, German themed town… and the hotel we stayed on butted up to the creek… I’m calling it a creek, but I could be wrong… It was about 15 – 20 feet across… with lots of rocks to break up the water flow, so you get that babble-brook feel…

but this is a walk-about, so you know we didn’t drive straight there… nope… we started a little closer to home… mom had been begging to see the Arc up near Cincinnati for months, so that’s where we started… and I decided to video the walk through… now I just need to figure out how to share it around… I decided that the Arc and other stops might make great writing prompts for peeps that didn’t have the time to travel around…

I also hoped to get some great ideas for my Finder’s Keepers series… I saw some hope for characters other than Marin, or maybe for shorts ??? or maybe one of my other series that I haven’t had time to work on… lol… anywho… I am willing to share…

we videos from the Arc, some from Helen, and some from the Tennessee – Georgia line (the lookout mountain area)… lookout mountain is where the caves, fun parks, and underground waterfalls come into play… sooo yeah… lots of work, but then I will be sharing them with y’all… so if you are a writer, feel free to use anything you see in them that sparks your pen into motion… ūüėõ later and happy wordage

R&R… Fire Bound

fireI love Christine Feehan books, so this will be mostly a Rave with very little Ranting… lol… the only rant I have to offer is my sadness over the missing sisters in this novel… I love when they all come together to save the day… woo who

but Lissa and Casmir Prakenskii make a perfect couple… both a little damaged but yearning to have that one person in their life that will¬† be their everything… I loved how they fought together and pulled each other back from the edge of their fiery natures when betrayal and pain touched a button…

and the peek at Viktor (the last Prakenskii brother) was great… I cant wait to see how she redeems this bad boy in the next novel… plus, Feehan opened up the possibilities for many more novels to come after we hear Viktor’s story… woo who…

passion, betrayal, and a few crushing endings for the bad guys that have been plaguing our heroes… excellent read…

happy wordage, guys… tracey

R&R The Martian

51rmwZQM9GL__AA160_

This is definitely more of a Rave than a Rant for me… I thoroughly enjoyed the science behind this movie… Matt Damon did an excellent job with his monologue acting… which is something I usually hate…

*think of the movie Phone Booth, with Colin Ferrell … I wanted to shoot Ferrell and myself for watching that movie… I wanted to cry over the two hours of my life that I would never get back… *

thankfully, The Martian didn’t¬†cause regret… I could see how kids could watch this movie and get excited about science, how finding a way to live on another planet might some day be possible… I could see the world branching out and growing bigger…

On just the movie and the acting, there were moments of laughter and sadness… Matt Damon made his plight believable … buuutttt

the one thing that had me shaking my head was the energy and strength left in a person (Damon and the other actors) after such an extended time in space, but especially Damon… with restricted food intake, lack of exercise equipment, and differing gravity, I didn’t think that his character should have had the strength to complete some of the tasks he preformed by the end of the movie… they did¬†make him look beat up and skinny, but still he had energy… surely his character would have showed more strain…

That aside, I would sooo watch this movie again… and¬†it would be a great movie to show in junior HS and High School… get the kids fired up by duplicating some of the¬†experiments in the movie… in a¬†safer way… lol… lets not blow up the kids…

Doctor Who ??? love that guy

225daf20817227a4333fa72fdb5d904e

I love, love love…. Doctor Who… and watching Peter Capaldi & Jenna Coleman¬†travel through space and time has been my favorite pastime… now… if you haven’t watched the latest season, look away… there will be spoilers… with mild ranting and lots of raving… lol…

if you watched the specials and podcasts, then you were waiting for the big Clara death scene… but maybe like me you were holding your breath, waiting for the doctor to find a way to fix things, to find a way to keep Clara by his side… but OMG… dang it Doctor, you made me cry… Clara really did get killed off… and the Doctor went through mammoth grief… time-lord style… how do I deal with this… wellll….

I cross my fingers that there really will be a spin off with Clara and Me (Maisie Williams) will come to fruition … will Clara remain living in the moment between heartbeats, will she one day meet back up with the doctor, or will the show become a Clara hit run-away… Who the heck knows…

I swear, I think they killed or almost killed Clara at least three or four times… and each time, I would think, this is it… no more Clara… why, oh why… ūüėõ I think she is my favorite doctor companion… and can totally carry her own show… but still… I would love to see her back with the doctor one day… her character has changed almost as often as she has changed doctors… it has been wonderful to watch and I can’t wait for whatever comes next…

happy wordage, tracey

R&R Sisters

7f1b519cbcac623c9bfb3cb94bcf3b44

Okay…. so this is a Rant… and others may disagree… and I have be informed that if I had waited a little longer to leave the theater, I would have been in stitches… but come on… I was an hour into the film and I broke… I couldn’t take it anymore… I took my popcorn and made a run for it…

I go through some pain to enjoy a movie at the movie theater, and this was Tina Fey… I expected to laugh before the first thirty minutes were up… and instead I reached the hour mark and begged to leave… I had sat there as others teeheed with humor and felt nothing but confusion… why the heck didn’t I think it was funny… I guess I just had higher humor standards for a movie with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler … for an hour, the movie felt stilted and slow… like something made for a high school videographer project…

sooo yeah… this is a rant…

others have said that if I waited for the dance party mix, it saved the show… but to tell the truth, I was bored out of my mind and felt that I had already seen all there was to enjoy when I watched the trailers at home…

R&R Sherlock

NE9AIWbw8hvAcg_2_b

okay, I have high standards for my Sherlock… so this is going to be more of a Rant than a Rave… (avoid in case of spoilers, if you haven’t watched)

so the Raving part… Benedict Cumberbatch is my favorite sociopath… lol… I got hooked on the show mainly because of him… and I enjoyed his performance… as well as the acting by all the other wonderful cast… Martin Freeman is picture perfect Watson… Mr and Mrs Watson scenes are always fun…

but once I get done raving about the acting skills, I slid into Rant mode… I mean, you have to wait years to get a new mini-movie/series and I for one expect to love it… this is not so… the story line fell flat for me… i kept waiting for the story line to move forward, completely missing the fact that i was already in the middle of the plot… i am hoping that it was the long wait that has caused this reaction, and that re-watching the show in a few days with yield better results… i would hate to lose Sherlock as one of my go to entertainments… i tend to be quite picky, but very loyal once i find something that i love…

Still… i will push on, and come back for more when they come up with another show… fingers crossed that it actually happens (i haven’t checked to see if there is one scheduled) and that it doesn’t take years to get here…

Alrighty… now back to writing… happy wordage, tracey

R&R Karen Chance

Rants and Raves

Pritkin… soooo dreamy… I waited with barely contained impatience for¬†Reap the Wind to be released… I reread the excerpt chapters, and stalked the internet for any tidbits that Karen Chance would drop…

3fa69da3a4d6508aeb25194504ee38de

It was torture… lol… This book in the Cassie Palmer series ended up being too long (according to Chance) and that meant that she had to either edit out or find a break in the story that allowed her to turn one book into two… She decided to go with the two book option, but that meant that we were forced to wait for her¬†to find that break, and then go back into editing mode…

Personally, I am glad that she went with the two book option… there is so much information and potential for future twists and turns packed into Reap the Wind… information that could have been benched and then forgotten… At least if I was in her shoes… I know that when I make chances, I always save the scenes that I cut out, but as I move forward my brain comes up with all these new ways to progress the story… it is really hard for me to find a way to fit those scenes that I loved back into the world I have created…

This isn’t exactly a bad thing, but there are possibilities in Reap the Wind that I, for one, would hate to see lost to the side lines… information about Pritkin, and how he could evolve… not just as Cassie’s friend, but also as a character… I also enjoyed seeing Cassie dropping into scenes already played out in the Dorina Basarab series… even though Cassie still doesn’t know about Dory, I can see the potential for future interaction between the two characters… and lets not forget Mircea…

Mircea’s character could go in so many ways… Chance could build a whole new series with him, she could continue as is and possible have a Pritkin vs Mircea triangle with Cassie being pulled between the two, she could go into a poly relationship type storyline… Hey… I am up for anything, especially if Pritkin gets lots of scene time… lol… did I mention that I love that character… And although Reap the Wind didn’t tie up the issues we have been waiting for answers to, it did wet my appetite for the next novel… Ride the Storm…. so now the wait continues… grrr… man do I hate waiting… how am I supposed to procrastinate my own editing if my favorite authors don’t publish stories faster… hehehe…

okay… enough of that for now… until next month, happy wordage everyone… hopefully I will be ranting and raving about the upcoming Sherlock movie next month… I spotting the poster for the upcoming release… two days only…

NE9AIWbw8hvAcg_2_b

Now this says Jan 1st but my theater said the 5th and 6th… I’m pretty sure… but I may have to miss the theater goodies, and instead watch just the show … I usually buy it on amazon video and watch it that way… I rarely get to go out to the movies with my MS hating the theater seats, but if you guys get out see the special, feel free to rant and rave for us… everyone should love Sherlock… muhahahaha… he is my favorite sociopath!!!

ranting and raving 4th Fridays!!!

R & R

FullSizeRender

okay… I’m one of those people that love to have their finger nails and toenails done, but only after the job is finished… getting me to go in the first place is like pulling teeth… even though I know that the finished product will make me smile…¬† and OMG the cost…

but let’s forget about price… deep breath… and again…

well I finally went to get my nails fixed.. and there were only about three fingers from each hand left with any polish on them from the last visit… not totally my fault, I swear… I love the gel polish and that stuff just refuses to come off… in fact, I have never had it taken off before… in the past, I just let the stuff grow off, and paint over what’s left if I have to go somewhere (and mom is embarrassed by my nails)… anywho… I finally learned what it takes to get the gel removed…

the lady at the salon filed the remaining polish, basically scrapping the crap out of my nails… then she put something (secret potion) on a piece of cotton ball and laid that on the nail, finally wrapping it all in foil… see easy… HA… it was a lot of work and dang if I didn’t break a nail less than a week after the smelly procedure…. but alls good… it was fixable… and at home… no secret needed, just a finger nail file…

IMG_1179

but finger nails are not the best part of the package… that would have to be the pedicure… ahhh…. I swear that my MS causes an extra large build up of callouses on my heels… the pedicure helps, and the massage chair I get to sit in while it all happens is a great bonus… but I already posted about my pedicure love over HERE… just another bout of MS facts from the home front … ūüėõ …

but now it is back to editing… I am over 50% done with the first round of edits on book two of the Finder’s Keepers series… after the first round, everything should go a lot faster… can’t wait to get Twin Findings (Book 2 Finder’s Keepers) out for you all

Happy wordage everyone, Tracey

Laser Lights

cvbnhg

I passed this house and a few others and thought, wow… that is soooo cool… at first I didn’t know what I was looking at… at the darkest hour, driving by in a car, it looks like they managed to blanket their homes in fairy lights…

that night, after gushing to mom about how beautiful they were, I clicked on this message about the danger of laser lights… go HERE if you want to read about it…

it makes sense if you think about it… if the laser misses your house and shots off into the night, you run the risk of distracting any aircraft pilots that happen to pass by… even if you don’t live near an airport, do you have a hospital nearby with medivac copters…

these lights are definitely lovely… I just hope that everyone pays attention while setting them up… if only takes a few incidents for the lights to be banned… and I would hate to see that happen… I would get some for my house, but we have a helicopter that flies a little to close for comfort for me to take the risk… still I enjoy driving past the houses that feel confident enough to use this new lighting system..

let the busy days commence

58e0688bd0f0ac9facbb6308d8410fc6

soooo… PT went OKAAAYYY…. kind of… I was on my stomach when I tried to lift my let up backwards…. that so wasn’t happening today… I ended up with a sharp pain shooting through my lower back…

So, PT guy says ok, and starts some stretches… I assume to untangle whatever was happening in my lower back… so he has my legs in this twisted position that would make a pretzel proud, and asks if I can feel the stretching…

My answer??? “yep … it is stretching across my lower back and pulling on my right leg…

His response??? “huh… that’s not supposed to happen…” lol

according to him I am making his job harder… hey, it’s not my fault… my body is confused … ūüėõ I blame the MS

Anywho… this is the third Friday… which is Arts and Crafts day… just head HERE if you want to read about today’s craft…

1st knitting attempt for babies… very hard

Now… I have a cousin in visiting, lots of edits to complete for book two, I am thinking of using my Pronoun.com early admissions pass for a book of shorts… and I still need to squeeze in some present wrapping time… I am very excited to have two publications out there… Shocking Finds and a short story (Giving Chase) in the anthology Stories in Green Ink…

it is like a drug… I want to finish more of my rough drafts … muhahahaha….

And now for my day eight answer… Music List??? hmmm… for me it is more of a TV series list… I have reruns running at a low volume in the background… when I try to listen to music while writing, I end up humming along, or outright singing… and it is hard to write and sing at the same time…¬† lol… Classical music is the closest I come to background music, but even that distracts me… so it is NCIS, Criminal Minds, and Blind Spot… I would listen to Doctor Who, but that has the power to pull my attention away from my words… I hear my favorite parts coming and immediately switch to watching my beloved Doctor…

Let’s see what Mary has for us today… hmm… what is my all time favorite book??? I love Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but I also love to reread all of the Karen Chance books and the Patricia Briggs books… I don’t know that I can pick just one… I start from the beginning of Shelly Laurenston/G.A. Aiken (same person-different series)’s books over and over… I just love the humor and romance…

If I have to pick just one it had to be one of the books form Patricia Briggs Alpha and Omega series… Let’s go with Dead Heat

511kW457fpL__SX329_BO1,204,203,200_

But dang it… i love her Mercy Thompson Series as well….. okay… let’s just go with this months favorite author, because my fav changes like a pregnant person’s cravings… and I can’t just mention my Alpha and Omega fav… it would be soooo unfair… I’m already leaving off a half dozen authors, and dozens of favorite books… and though Patricia Briggs keeps her lovin’ scenes behind closed doors, my smut obsessed mind just loves her… ūüėõ and here is my Mercy Thompson Pick… Night Broken
