Watch out for Mother Nature!!!

soooo… Deer?  Cute or Dangerous? lol… that’s easy … sooo cute…. I mean… we have all seen Bambi…. Disney loves to bring us cute kids, dead parents, and life lessons… Deer are even a little majestic…

deer3

But on my street, Deer can also mean Dangerous… lol… like when they decide to jay-walk in the middle of the night… or your are out to get the mail and momma Deer starts barking (yep… barking… it is a horrible sound… like someone with bronchitis)… keep your distance, and they are cuties…

but the other night I drove down to Wendy’s, used a back road, and out of nowhere about nine Deer decided to sprint across the road… the last one to cross almost brushed the front of my car, it was so close… sooooo, yeah…. the Deer around here are soooo not afraid of people… in fact, they will probably start asking us for rent soon…

deer2

and then there was the one that freaked mom out… she had gone out to smoke on the porch, and momma Deer didn’t like how close the ‘human’ was to her little one… annnnnddddd, cue the barking… lol… after that, mom started carrying a taser out to smoke… but she still loves to look at them, so staying inside isn’t an option…

and then there are the Turkey population… it is wild flippin kingdom around here, I swear… I should start writing shifter novels, and sale them as true stories… lol… but anywho… turkeys

turkey

awwwww…. look, they are such great moms… bah… when you live next to a bird sanctuary, great mom means breeder….

it isn’t that I begrudge them a little bird-lovin…. and they are kind of cute (at least from the neck down)

turkey2

sadly, they were born with a face that only a mother could love… lol… in fact, I don’t think I should publically explain what that hanging, flopping neck reminds me of… lol… but still… not that Dangerous…

or are they…. (cue the horror movie music)

turkey1

When you are driving down the road and spot a procession of Turkey, you know they have organized and are prepared to do some damage…

or in my case, you see a line of about 13 Turkeys head for the road, and think “man, I hope I get past them before the suicidal things dash into the road”… lol… okay, so that may be a little over the top thinking-wise, but when the animals decide that it is okay to interact with the human (or at least, they act like you are only living there on their sufferance) … well that is a different matter…

but if swear, if I ever catch the Deer and the Turkeys chatting it up (making war plans), I will sooooo be out of here… lol… so I guess my answer to my own question would be that yep, they are cute, but cute is usually dangerous… 😛

happy wordage, Tracey

Raccoons & more #RRBC party news

Alright… can you guess where this is going… huh… can ya… how about a hint…

31df503921c6cb137fd7b9346a9f7971

okay… it wasn’t that bad…

my cat has recently decided that she no longer wants to be an indoor tabby…. nope… “bring me my food on the deck, Human,” is all I get from her these days… and since the animals at my house are the ones in charge (wait… what??? that cant’ be right)… sad but true, the pugs and cat have trained me well…

anywho… mom kept forcing the cat to come in to eat… which I thought was cruel (see how easy I am to train)… so I kept putting the food back outside… Fights ensued …. mom demanded that I stop… we would have mice and strays, she said… but why was that a problem??? so  what… mom cats would be feed, and the ones that didn’t get in on the cat food could eat the mice… problem solved…

butttttttt…. with buckets of rain and flood warnings, I took a page out of mom’s play book and forced the cat inside… she was not happy… when I finally let her back out, we were met with wildlife…

I didn’t even know we had raccoons close by… but I would be wrong… and even more troubling… I could hear something under the deck… and my big guard-kitty??? what was her response??? heck, I have seen her more upset with my pugs… conclusion?? I think the traitorous-feline has been living with a family of raccoons under my deck and feeding them… Sigh …

lol… now for some daily Block Party fun…

who’s in the birdcage??

Remember how Snow White had this gift with animals, to the point where she could sing a bird down from the sky to alight on her finger??? Yeah… that sooo didn’t happen here…

I came home from  a diet coke run (omg, I am addicted to diet coke out of a soda fountain) and I walked in to find Tweety’s younger cousin had moved in… how??? who the heck knows… but the cat didn’t care, and refused to help, merely lying back to watch as I ran around in circles…

did I mention that my house  is in a figure eight design… man… and I thought catching the dogs when they were in trouble was a pain… at least the dogs don’t have wings… and since when is an animal with a head smaller than a quarter intelligent… how is that fair?? lol….I opened all the windows and doors… I blocked off rooms… and I ran in circles… every time Tweety 2.0 got near an escape route (to the colder land of the outdoors) he would make a U-turn…

367ddea02ea385be32399dd9c81dab8a

he flew  to the top of the curtains, into the Christmas tree (cause, yes, I am that person that takes things down around the time I need to be putting them back up) and the dang thing even hopped under the bed… at one point, he stopped to rest on mom’s head while she did her best to get in a nap, and ignore all the insanity… lol… I know he was taunting me… I’m not sure why, but eventually, he flew out one of the open doors… Maybe he was full…

Tweety 2.o had managed to get what I thought was a dead (and decayed) stinkbug carcass from somewhere… he then flew under mom’s bed to eat in peace… no big deal… right?? well not until mom groaned, “I smell a stink bug”… evil bird… he was trying to run us out of our own home… sooo yeah… I have no idea why he decided to leave… but clearly it was by choice, and not because of my expert bird skills…

Next time I’m calling this guy… he was in the middle of all the pinterest pics I found about birds, and cages… but clearly, he has a gift… I just hope it works on the smaller ones…

almost here !!!

I am feeling the excitement and pressure from waiting and wondering. Will Shocking Finds be able to reach a large number of people? Will those that read through my baby find the world I created to be an enjoyment? Will they give the same kind of appreciative reviews as those that have already had a chance to experience the world of Marin and Kyland? So far the reception has been overwhelmingly positive … enough to make me blush. Whenever I feel my friend ‘Doubt’ coming near, there are a few comments that I pull out for strength. 😛

I have been working to get all my ducks in a row, when I’m not finishing a few art projects for my Cousin Erin’s wedding. And to add even more to this month of fun, I drove my mother down to spend time on the beach and with out cousin Jesse … Lot’s of opportunities for pictures and books.

This is what I would call my ‘why the heck not’ purchases. 😛 All things that I could use, but mostly I just really wanted them. From the crazy neighbors to the horror stories, from the animal info to the survival guide … all important. I may not need them at this exact moment, but you never know. Writing a book that is interesting means you need facts and knowledge. Just because I write paranormal/fantasy romance, that doesn’t get me off the fact finding hook. A lot of my world revolves around the imagined, but there are always a few reality based facts involved.

I managed to find a few books on crystals. For the first book it was enough to know that Marin had a crystal that everyone went around calling a maturation crystal, or just a crystal for her Transitions Birthday. I used the her birthday gift to herself in a few chapters at the beginning and then again at the end, but I didn’t go into depth (thinking that it would be an object that was rarely seen) HA. Now I need to know more about her crystal, so that Marin can eventually find out more. See … research.

As for the Indian/First People books … hey … those are my people. But other than the fact that my grandfather looked like he knew his way around a reservation, my knowledge of the culture is sorely lacking. And then I found out that the Fae actually came over to Earth-side and mated with the First People. Jeeze… no one tells me anything… but the voices in my head suddenly demanded that this is how it all went wrong for our Fae half-breeds here Earth-side. While I was waiting for the latest book cover proof, I had decided to edit some on one of my short stories. I was going along, and everything was fine, then suddenly Joffrey decides to drop this little bomb shell in my lap. He is just lucky that I like the idea … I have killed off characters for less … muhahahaha… Anywho … It looks like Joffrey’s short will end up being a novella, but I haven’t decided if it should be shared before or after the second full length novel… Hopefully, after Shocking Finds is out and I finish the edit for the second novel, one of the characters will let me know…

So that is what I did for beach fun, book stores and edits. OOO, and I think we have the book cover almost finalized. I can’t wait to share. Otherwise I tried to take as many pictures as I could, when my head and the heat cooperated.

I saw these at the beach front wildlife preserve down from Garden City. A few overcast evenings made going on a short walk-about possible. But after walking around the and finding three, just three, lovely pics, I decided that I would have been better off checking out the Botanical Gardens across the street. Other than these and some pics of extremely white sand, I saw lots and lots of crabs. There were enough of the little devils to change the name to the ‘Wild Crab Bonanza’

101_0206101_0198

I took a few more, but some of them came out a little blurry. Lots of crab movement, and thicker numbers of the ones that were about the size of nickels, dimes, and quarters. Ever seen Lands End with Johnny Depp… sooo, yeah … Lots.

Here are some beach and wave pics to round out this post, and I hope to come back with more Shocking Finds updates soon… Happy Wordage, Tracey
